Torae For The Record

Torae has put together a dream-team of producers for his new album, “For The Record”, released today. He’s enlisted the talents of Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Diamond D, Large Professor, 9th Wonder, Marco Polo, Khrysis, Fatin, Illmind, and Nottz to help him tell his personal story.

He’s also continued a relationship with Stadium Red mastering engineer Ricardo Gutierrez that began with Torae’s collaboration with Marco Polo in 2009 “Double Barrel” and now continues with “For The Record”. NEW MUSIC: J Cole – “The Sideline Story” Worked on at Stadium Red

In an era saturated with upstart MCs all vying for the coveted status of “next big thing”, the story of 24-year old North Carolina native J. Cole (born Jermaine Cole) is a refreshing exception to the quick route for fame and success. The first artist signed to Jay-Z’s new Roc Nation label, Cole made himself notable through a scholarly approach to the game – no small feat considering his Magna Cum Laude distinction upon graduating from St. John’s University.

Stadium Red recently hosted J. Cole and his engineer for some finishing touches on his debut album “The Sideline Story”. They tweaked every record on the album in Studio A of Stadium Red and were assisted by Keith Parry. This album debuted at number 1, is currently the number 1 album in the country and is already being called a classic and sold 217,000 copies in the first week.

New Music: La Dispute “Wildlife” Done at Stadium Red

la dispute wildlife

On October 4th, 2011 La Dispute released their album “Wildlife” on No Sleep Records. As stated by the bands official press release… “Wildlife is a nearly 60-minute musical examination of the twenty something search for purpose; an exploration of the struggles that confront, damage, and redefine us inevitably in life through 14 tracks of new material. Set up as a collection of unpublished “short stories” complete with the author’s notes and sectioned thematically by four monologues, “Wildlife” discusses the difficulties inherent in growing up by interweaving the author’s own ambiguous loss and struggle for meaning alongside the stories it compelled him to document.

The majority of this album was recorded and was entirely mixed at Stadium Red by our very own Joseph Pedulla, teamed with producer Andrew Everding of Thursday. The finishing touches were put on it by our mastering engineer Ricardo Gutierrez. Today Sonicscoop.com posted an interview with Stadium Red engineer Joseph Pedulla, discussing the project and the technique he used to mix the whole album without the use of digital reverbs. In the article Joe states “We were just trying to capture what it would be like for an audience member sitting and listening to a guitar in a room,” “There was something natural about it.”

New Music: Rick Ross’s New Single Done at Stadium Red

Rick Ross

Rapper Rick Ross recently came into Stadium Red and completed his new single “I Love My Bitches,” which will be included on his upcoming album, God Forgives, I Don’t. “I wanted to go to another level, and make sure my sound continues to evolve,” Ross told Flex, which is a departure from the bass-heavy street anthems he’s been known for since last year’s Teflon Don. The track is another song worked on by various members of our team. Produced by Just Blaze, mixed by Andrew Wright and mastered by Ricardo Gutierrez makes this another record that showcases the talent up here at Stadium Red.

This single premiered on HOT 97 in NYC on October 4th by legendary Funkmaster Flex. In the song Ross proclaims his love for women and shout outs to LeBron James and Dwayne Wade as well as his Bentley which is apparently named Barbara Streisand.

Stadium Red’s Studio Cat Rags Lauren Hits The BIG TIME

rags lauren

For those of you who have had the chance to come by the studios at Stadium Red, this will come as no surprise. Rags Lauren, Stadium Red’s resident studio creature cat that was rescued near death by Just Blaze and named after the great Ralph Lauren himself, has received his first taste of the big time. His feature in Today’s LA Weekly blog has already put him amidst a bidding war of many management agencies and with the forthcoming of his DJ/Producer career, his buzz has no where to go, but up.

This is only the beginning for Rags, but his family at Stadium Red and his loving father Just Blaze have nothing but high hopes for this budding star. In due time he will certainly be looked upon amongst the many music icons of today.
