NEW MUSIC: J Cole – “The Sideline Story” Worked on at Stadium Red
In an era saturated with upstart MCs all vying for the coveted status of “next big thing”, the story of 24-year old North Carolina native J. Cole (born Jermaine Cole) is a refreshing exception to the quick route for fame and success. The first artist signed to Jay-Z’s new Roc Nation label, Cole made himself notable through a scholarly approach to the game – no small feat considering his Magna Cum Laude distinction upon graduating from St. John’s University. Stadium Red recently hosted J. Cole and his engineer for some finishing touches on his debut album “The Sideline Story”. They tweaked every record on the album in Studio A of Stadium Red and were assisted by Keith Parry. This album debuted at number 1, is currently the number 1 album in the country and is already being called a classic and sold 217,000 copies in the first week. New Music: La Dispute “Wildlife” Done at Stadium Red
On October 4th, 2011 La Dispute released their album “Wildlife” on No Sleep Records. As stated by the bands official press release… “Wildlife is a nearly 60-minute musical examination of the twenty something search for purpose; an exploration of the struggles that confront, damage, and redefine us inevitably in life through 14 tracks of new material. Set up as a collection of unpublished “short stories” complete with the author’s notes and sectioned thematically by four monologues, “Wildlife” discusses the difficulties inherent in growing up by interweaving the author’s own ambiguous loss and struggle for meaning alongside the stories it compelled him to document. The majority of this album was recorded and was entirely mixed at Stadium Red by our very own Joseph Pedulla, teamed with producer Andrew Everding of Thursday. The finishing touches were put on it by our mastering engineer Ricardo Gutierrez. Today Sonicscoop.com posted an interview with Stadium Red engineer Joseph Pedulla, discussing the project and the technique he used to mix the whole album without the use of digital reverbs. In the article Joe states “We were just trying to capture what it would be like for an audience member sitting and listening to a guitar in a room,” “There was something natural about it.” To read the rest of the article visit www.sonicscoop.com for the article on the process of creating the album Visit itunes to preview and buy the album |
