Stadiumred’s live room was filled with sound as Svjetlana came in to work on her new album, ‘Evolution’ with David Frost and Tom Lazarus. This album is her highly anticipated producing debut in The United States. She has involved some of the top New York avant-garde, jazz, and prog rock players. With Martha Mooke on electric viola, Ha-Yang Kim on cello, Mordy Ferber on electric guitar, Leonardo Suarez Paz and Cornelius Dufallo on violin, Susan Aquila on electric violin Viper, Johnny Reinhard on bassoon, and Tony Levin on electric bass, among others, Svjetlana created an innovative electro-acoustic record which features hybrid sounds and altered tuning of her design. Stories of love, loss, trial and triumph dominate this album with music that has already garnered critical acclaim. Svjetlana Bukvich is one of Sarajevo’s premier music figures. A “force in new music” (American Festival of Microtonal Music), Svjetlana alchemizes old with new in a superbly original, yet accessible voice. An innovator in hybrid electronic sound, and a compelling performer, Svjetlana has worked with a number of New York’s most cutting-edge instrumentalists, and has appeared in venues as varied as the The Kennedy Center, the Tribeca Film Festival, The Knitting Factory, (le) Poisson Rouge, ASCAP’s Thru The Walls Series, the New York Times Center, and internationally including Beijing, London, South Africa and Copenhagen. Described as “ecstatic musical experience” (New Music Connoisseur), her genre-bending performances are often informed by the unique places she has lived in – Addis Ababa, Edinburgh, Boston, New York City, and her native Sarajevo.
