ABOUT THE AVATAR MUSIC SCORE POSTMORTEM

Overview:  Movie tie-in games are a high stakes business. None had higher stakes for the 2010-2011 holiday season than James Cameron's Avatar.  Creating original scores for movie games is a high stakes business itself, with unique artistic challenges, stratospheric expectations, and surprising hurdles to overcome.

Composer Chance Thomas, a veteran of movie games (Avatar, Lord of the Rings, King Kong, X-Men, etc.) will carefully walk attendees through the Avatar experience – from auditioning for Cameron's team, to working with film composer James Horner, to composing and producing the massive 4.5 hour score in record time.

All the highs and lows, all the things you'd expect (and the things you wouldn't), and the key takeaway lessons everyone can apply to their own careers. It's all here.

Session Overview: Here is a breakdown of the presentation subtopics. Sections are illustrated with real world experiences, memorable stories and anecdotes, audio files and game visuals, and principles distilled from the experiences that will work in a broad diversity of situations and circumstances.

Movie Games - James Cameron - Getting the Gig - Music Design - Finding a Voice - James Horner - Navigating the Narrows - Live Recording - Post Production - Highs and Lows
